Canna-bliss... Osea Undaria Body Polish

Nothing starts the day off right quite like a nice bong rip followed by a long hot shower.  It is no secret that Budlover is a girl, and of course one who likes her creature comforts. That being said, we're also a bit of a hippie, and we prefer our beauty and skincare products to be natural and chemical/cruelty free.
Osea Malibu is one of our favorite skincare brands. Not only is it 100% organic, Osea is also certified Vegan and Bio-Degradable. Right up our alley! Budlover adores their delicious Essential Hydrating Oil and Atmosphere Protection Cream, and can't imagine living a day without it.
We recently ordered a big ol' jar of Undaria Body Polish, a new product being offered on Osea's website.  Undaria is a type of seaweed that is sourced in the pristine waters of Patagonia (doesn't that sound fab?), and it is uber-rich in sodium, iron, potassium, calcium and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12. Undaria prevents the breakdown of hyaluronic acid in the body, which is necessary to keep skin smooth and firm (Just how we like it).  The body polish also contains exfoliating granules of pumice along with acai, guarana, and exotic babassu. Sounds lovely, right? Trust us, it is.

And get this - Osea Undaria Body Polish also contains hemp oil, derived from CANNABIS SATIVA (our fave)! YESSS!!!
Although this yummy body polish won't give you a contact high, it will leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and super moisturized.
Better yet - the subtle lavender & lemongrass scent is not overly girly or fussy. Osea Undaria Body Polish is great for both sexes.. Mr. Budlover also gives it two thumbs up!
Affordably priced at $60 for a large 12oz jar, Osea Undaria Body Polish is the ideal gift for yourself, or the Cannabis lover /slash/ Skincare snob in your life. Order a jar today, we promise that you'll be happy you did - especially if your morning routine mimics ours.

Getting Irie in the Islands. Budlover goes to Jamaica!

Budlover is in Montego Bay at the gorgeous Round Hill resort enjoying relaxing island breezes, fruity drinks, and of course - Jamaican grown Ganja. This stuff is pretty good, easy to come by, and really cheap.

Bad Ass Smoking Accessories - gear for girls.

It is no secret that women love their accessories, and BudLover is no exception to the rule. We're two busy girls who are constantly on the run, so we use these cute accessories for tokin' on the go.

Chanel Leather Case: this handy (and glamourous) lambskin case is the perfect size for holding a one-hitter and lighter, or our personal fave - The Launch Box. Budlover received this classic Chanel case a few Christmases ago (thanks Mom!).

Stash Box: this gorgeous vintage sterling silver 1920's hand-carved pill box was gifted to BudLover by a dear old friend. Isn't it pretty? Perfect for discreetly storing tasty nugs in our purse.

Launch Box: Budlover's favorite new toy! The Launch Box is the worlds smallest handheld portable vaporizer. It is super discreet, and emits almost no cannabis odor when used! This is a big upgrade from the old wooden dugout and one hitter that we picked up on the Venice Beach boardwalk. Our vintage Chanel leather case makes the perfect home for the Launch Box, don't you think?  Look for more info and a review on the Launch Box in a future post.

What are some of your favorite smoking accessories? Leave us a comment or email us.

The Review: Blue Dream

Strain: Blue Dream
Subspecies: Sativa Dominant Hybrid
Experience: Just look at those sparkly, glittery trichomes! Blue Dream is one of BudLover's favorite new strains. This lovely Sativa Hybrid gave yours truly a very nice heady buzz with a long lasting tingly body high. Budlover used a grinder to unlock the gorgeous scent of Blue Dream.  Try medicating with a bong or vaporizer to get the full effect of its delicate flavor.
Aroma: An olfactory delight! Very unique and unlike other strains I've tried lately. Blue Dream exudes a fragrance that recalls one of my favorite childhood toys - My Little Pony mixed, of course, with that tasty classic cannabis aroma.
Flavor:  Blue Dream has a very light, perfume-y flavor reminiscent of Fruit-Loops cereal (what's with all the childhood references today!?). This strain is super smooth, a pleasure to smoke, and tastes very similar to its smell.
Purchased: 3.13.2010 at Green Dot in Venice Beach, CA

The Review: Romulan

Strain: Romulan
Subspecies: Sativa
Experience: First, I tried the Romulan using a Vapor Brothers hands-free vaporizer.  It tasted very spicy and peppery and tickled my nose.  The high was pretty mellow, so I decided to give Romulan another try the next day in my bong.  It took a few rips to feel medicated and again the high was mellow and mostly made my head feel heavy.  I think I will keep an eye out for another batch of Romulan, so I can give this popular strain another try.
Aroma:  After using the grinder, Romulan had a distinct spicy, nutmeg smell.
Flavor: Spicy and peppery.
Purchased:  The Farmacy Venice in Venice, CA.
Price:  $25/$65 (No ounce price available)

Thank God(dess) for O.G. Sour Diesel

When BudLover came down with a nasty case of food poisoning due to a funky soy milk latte, she asked her good friend B (the canna-sseur) for a strain recommendation to relieve her nausea, vomiting, and bodyaches. B suggested the O.G. Sour Diesel that BudLover picked up at New Age Wellness Group in San Diego this weekend, "Indicas are great for soothing body aches and nausea", said B.
The OG Sour Diesel did not disappoint. This fresh, tasty nugget smells great when ground. I medicated with a glass bong (one ice cube in the chamber, always) and began feeling relaxed and relieved within a matter of minutes. After about an hour and a half, I was able to eat and drink water without feeling nauseous or becoming ill. I'm thankful that I had this strain handy to help me thru my sickness.
Strain: OG Sour Diesel
Subspecies: Indica dominant hybrid
Experience: Classic Indica - heavy limbs, sleepy eyes, and major relaxation.
Aroma: Familiar sour diesel smell, with a hint of pine and coffee.
Flavor: Thick, sort of sour, and semi-smooth.
Purchased: 2.13.10 at New Age Wellness Group in La Jolla, CA
Price:  $55 1/8th
Rating: ***

The Review: 5x Peppermint Patty

Edible: The Venice Cookie Co. 5x Peppermint Patty
Flavor: The bright green insides of this peppermint patty had me worried it would taste too much like cannabis.  Luckily, the mint flavor was strong and I hardly noticed the cannabis.  Plus, the chocolate was thick and crunchy giving a nice contrast to the soft interior.
Experience: I ate half of the peppermint patty and started feeling it a little more than an hour later.  It was really mellow and not at all tiring.  Next time I will eat the whole patty.  Overall, this was a great Valentine's Day chocolate treat.  It was pretty big if you need to eat the whole thing, but it was delicious!  Check out the dolphins Bud Lover saw today.

The Review: Strawberry Cough

Nothing puts a smile on Budlover's face more than the delicious odor of fresh bud on a beautiful afternoon. For that reason, I could not resist snatching up this golfball sized nugget of delicious Strawberry Cough at 99 High Art Collective today. I rarely pass by the 99 without stopping in, if only to gaze at the psychedelic artwork adorning its walls. I was not in the market for cannabis today, but the dank smell of fresh nuggets was particularly strong. I thought it might be a good idea to...ahem..."take a look around". I'm on official BudLover business, so it is research. After a quick check in, I passed through the purple organza curtains into a cloud of moist, delicious, almost-floral, cannabis smell. My attention was immediately directed toward an open jar of very fresh, yet-to-be-labeled buds. Hello, Strawberry Cough.  Continue Reading after THE JUMP

The Review: Not So Virgin Olive Oil

(Please note - this is not a full bottle! Budlover was super excited to make
her enhanced Bruschetta and forgot to snap a photo beforehand. )
Edible: The Venice Cookie Company's Not So Virgin Olive Oil
Flavor:  When it comes to the flavor of enhanced cannabis food, I promise to never give it a thumbs up if it only tastes good within the realm of cannabis edibles.  All the food that I eat should taste good regardless if it is laced with cannabis or not.  Not So Virgin Olive Oil definitely meets my standard and I will happily give it two thumbs for flavor.  The raw, nutty flavor of extra virgin olive oil seems to pair perfectly with the earthy cannabis taste.  For quite some time, I was accustomed to choking down sub-par pot brownies, and I never got to appreciate how delicious cannabis might taste when paired with the right ingredients.  This olive oil makes an excellent dip for bread served on its own, but with so many possibilities, why eat it just like that?  More on experience & where to purchase after THE JUMP

The Review: Tangerine Kush

Strain: Tangerine Kush
Subspecies: Indica
Experience: If you thought there was a typo in the price, catch your breath, because this kush really does cost $90 an eighth.  Once I got over the high price point, I sat down to appreciate how lovely this strain is.  The buds are tight and spotted with dark green leaves and have a thick, white sugary coating.   And, tangerine kush didn't disappoint.  All of my senses were satisfied.  The bud tasted as wonderful as it smelled and I felt medicated immediately.
Aroma: But, it is the smell, not the appearance that sets this strain above the rest.  The tangerine fragrance smells like a fresh cut, pine Christmas tree.  Visions of tangerine filled stockings and a twinkling Christmas tree fill my mind as I begin to grind the dense little nugget.
Flavor: Using a grinder is key to unlocking all the potential flavor and fragrance in tangerine kush.  I packed my little bong and used bee line to ensure the flavor of butane didn't overtake the cannabis.  The strong taste of citrus and pine had staying power and I was still enjoying the flavor long after I finished smoking.
Purchased: 2.5.10 at The Farmacy Venice in Venice, CA.
Price: $35/ $90 (No ounce price available)
Rating: *****

The Review: Fire Diesel

Strain: Fire Diesel
Subspecies: Sativa Dominant Hybrid
Experience: Smoking this out of the bong instantly made my jaw tighten and my mouth water.  I needed a few hits, but ten minutes later, I was feeling relaxed.  This one's a creeper!
Aroma: Signature sour diesel smell.  Yummy!
Flavor: A little harsh on my throat, but my mouth was watering, literally, before the smoke even hit my lips.

Price: 15/45/90/180/350

Ode to Joy - the Hubby Bar Medical Marijuana Edible

Ah, the Hubby Bar - by far my edible of choice. This tasty treat comes in a variety of flavors (Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and several "Crunch" varieties of the aforementioned flavors). Peanut butter is my personal fave.  This wonderful Medical Marijuana chocolate packs a heavy punch.  Each bar is segmented into 6 pieces, and it only takes 1/2 of one peice to get yours truly very, very medicated. Affordably priced at just $10, the Hubby is in my opinion the most wallet friendly cannabis edible I've ever tried. Do the math  - the cost per dose is just above $0.80!
Now on to the best part..... the Hubby Bar experience. Friends, a word of caution - this edible is a major creeper! It kicks in 30 - 45 minutes after ingestion, stays strong and lasts long (4+ hours). I often forget that I've medicated and then find myself very, very stoned. The Hubby Bar contains Hash Oil and I'm not sure if it is an Indica or Sativa dominant medicine, as it's effect is both a cerebral and a body high.

The Review: Coconut Kush

Subspeices: Sativa
Experience: A delightful, energetic, and cerebral high. Perfect for any outdoor activity, I felt that Coconut Kush heightened my senses in just the right way. Birds singing, windchimes in the distance, and the smell of the ocean seemed more apparent than usual. This is not an overpowering, strong high. It is more of a subtle, mood enhancing experience that lasts long and makes everything a bit more enjoyable.
Aroma:  Earthy and organic with notes of wet earth and freshly cut grass. Not at all skunky.
Flavor: Light and subtle with hints or dark chocolate, toast, vanilla and pepper.
Purchased: 1.30.2010 at 99 High Art Collective in Venice Beach, CA.
Price: $22 / $70 / $500
Rating: ***

How it all began - my Medical Marijuana quest...

First Fridays: Abbot Kinney Blvd.

1.8.2010 - strolling along AK, I noticed a sign posted outside of the 99 High Art Collective, "First Friday, Doctor in the house, $99 evaluations". I inquired within and made an appointment for later that evening. Upon returning, I completed the requisite paperwork and waited for a few minutes before being summoned upstairs to meet with Dr. Peggy Ching. We reviewed a barrage of medical trivia, a few physical examinations (eyes, ears, reflex) all of it, "procedural" but in the end, everything was clean, quick, and thorough.

At the end, I was given a "Letter of Recommendation" for Medical Marijuana to treat my anxiety and sleeplessness.I've been a marijuana user since the age of 14. I'm thrilled about the freedom of choice that my new recommendation brings.

I created this blog as a forum to share my journey and experiences with medical marijuana. In addition to sharing my opinions, I invite my friends to share their photos, reviews, and thoughts on medicine, collectives, and dispensaries.

Enjoy, friends!
